Glad to be part of Bersih 3

Before my hubby and I left home for Bersih 3, my son cautioned his dad :"Pa, be careful. Sometimes you just don't know what these people are going to do."
We assured him we shall take good care of ourselves.

With brother, sister-in-law and neighbors at Kelana LTR station at 10.20am.

We came in a group of 8.

The first VIP we met at the Pasar Seni station was our national laureate A Samad Said!

Then we caught a glimpse of Niza, ex Perak Menteri Besar. We quickly ran behind him to take a photo together.
At that point, I really felt as if I was in a carnival...or a "Bersih" Theme Park.

A photo with my beloved hubby at the Petaling Street.
老公,多年以後,我們可以回顧 “那些年,我們一起走上街頭的日子。”

I took this photo from the first floor of a restaurant. Long queue to use the toilet :-)

We noticed crowd started to disperse at around 3pm and so decided to take a train home from the Masjid Jamek station.
About 10 min after we left the station, someone tweeted that police was firing tear gas and Masjid Jamek station was closed! It was so unbelievable because before we left, the crowd was well behaved and it was very peaceful. We were indeed fortunate because if we were to leave slightly later, we would have suffered from a nightmarish experience.  How I wish everyone could go home safely...

Sadly, what my son said to his dad had come true..."sometimes you just don't know what these people are going to do..."

UNGGUN BERSIH
Semakin lara kita didera bara—
kita laungkan juga pesan merdeka:
Demokrasi sebenderang mentari
sehasrat hajat semurni harga diri.

Lama resah kita—demokrasi luka;
lama duka kita—demokrasi lara.
Demokrasi yang angkuh, kita cemuhi;
suara bebas yang utuh, kita idami!

Dua abad lalu Sam Adams berseru:
(di Boston dijirus teh ke laut biru):
Tak diperlu gempita sorak yang gebu,
diperlu hanya unggun api yang syahdu.

Kini menyalalah unggun sakti itu;
kini merebaklah nyala unggun itu.

24—25, 6.11. A. SAMAD SAID

Clean Bonfire (translated by someone from the ‘Unggun Bersih' by A Samad Said)

Abused by embers, we're all getting ill -
to call out to the message of independence,
We manage still democracy,
as brilliant as the sun yearning for the desire of sincere self-regard.

We've long been restless - democracy is wounded;
we've long been wounded - democracy is ill.
A supercilious democracy, disgusted us;
A strong voice of liberty, we desired!

Two centuries ago, Samuel Adams exclaimed
(in Boston where tea was poured into the blue sea):
We don't need a loud fluffy cheerleading
What we need is just an eminent bonfire.

Let's light up that sacred bonfire;
Let's spread out that sacred flame.

No matter what, don't lose faith!
Hand in hand for a better tomorrow!

What a beautiful morning!

My son surprised me when he said he wanted to learn baking cupcake. It turned out not bad and he even brought some to school for his friends.

My elder daughter loves cooking. She made the family yummy omelette breakfast.

What a beautiful morning!

Mommy The Copycat

I love this drawing by Zi, I'm especially attracted by the warrior's eyes.

So I decided to copy it :-)

Mommy's version of lady warrior.

I also like this simple yet elegant dress designed by Zi about 2 years ago.

So I copied it too...but giving my fashion model a more curvy body :-)

Zi's elder sister Huey has good fashion sense.

Huey allowed me to copy it, but wanted me to give the model wavy hair & a pair of boots.

Huey has many beautiful creations.

So nice of her to let me copy :-)

This piece was inspired by a photo I saw in Le Prestige magazine.

When I was young, I thought I would become a fashion designer someday. Now my elder daughter shares the same dream too. Best of all, now she already has a SUPER cooperative MODEL

Well, no girl can resist beautiful dresses!

Crying baby gets the milk???!!!

Cry baby...
2009 ...tearful due to political (not education) problem

Crying baby gets the milk???
Thousands rally over Chinese teacher shortage (25 Mar 2012)

Many have been "crying" & complaining for years but the teacher shortage has not been resolved. There's never enough "milk" .

In fact, not only Chinese schools, Sekolah Kebangsaan (eg. my kid's secondary school) are facing teacher shortage problem too!

What to do...it gets worse nowadays as cows* are staying in luxury condos in Singapore and there'll never ever be enough milk for the people!

Education cost money, but then so does ignorance.

The 44th Wedding Anniversary

My parents' wedding anniversary is on the 8th of March. This year, we booked a private room in Grand Imperial Restaurant to celebrate this wonderful occasion with them.

"There’s no greater gift
than wonderful parents —
the kind of a father and mother
Who’ve built a good marriage
and share with their children
the love that they feel for each other."

My little niece represented all of us to present a card to the 2 VIPs.

What's written inside the card? My son was ready to capture the moment of sweet surprise :-)

Something funny?

Admiring the card printed with their photos, plus greetings and funny word bubbles from everyone.

My dad is a good singer. When I was young, I used to hear him sing in the shower.
I enjoy listening to him sing ... and I'm sure mom is his number 1 fan.

After a sumptuous meal, we continued our celebration in my brother's house.

My youngest brother skyped from Australia to share this joyous occasion together.

There're 3 hearts printed on the card. My dad was requested to fill in each of the heart with one chinese word. The first heart must be written with “我” (I)。When asked about what to write on the second heart, my little niece suggested shyly, "愛“ (love).

I teased my dad not to mistakenly write “我忍妳”, instead of “我愛妳”。

Happy loving couple of 44 years... and mom still remembers she wore a green dress on their first date!

There's no greater gift
than warm, caring parents —
the kind of a husband and wife
Who bring up their children
with so much devotion,
becoming their good friends for life...

The first 2 sets of speech bubble on the card were contributed by my brothers, and the bottom one was written by me.

There's no greater gift
than parents like you —
the most wonderful father and mother,
Who are both loved so much
and have grown even dearer
from one special year to another.

Happy Anniversary
We Love You!
