My "Ang Mo" friend who loves Mandarin!

Last December, My hubby and I met up with a German friend who used to be our client when she worked in Malaysia a few years ago. She is a very adventurous person who loves photography (including marine photography), traveling (she has been to many exotic places including Ethiopia) and scuba diving (even not long after her knee cap surgery). I always respect her as she has unusual strength in facing life challenges and lives life to the fullest.

This round, we found out she has a new hobby...which is quite unusual too.

She is learning Chinese Language!!!

She brings her handy yellow word cards anywhere she goes.

She showed us a very interesting program to learn Mandarin.

Unbelievable!!! She is a very good and serious student!

So kids, PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ANYMORE THAT CHINESE LANGUAGE IS HARD TO LEARN!!! By learning the language, we'll have a better understanding of our values and culture!

國際名語言學家鄭良偉教授曾講過:「語言是,溝通的工具、思維的結構,認知的基礎、認同的符號,身份的表態、文化的展現、能力的鑑定、競爭的武器。」

Hi Yuin Ting, I have many times being embarrassed by white Canadians, male and female who speak fluent Mandarin, and with either a Northern or Southern China accent too.

As well lots of Canadians adopting Chinese kids from China and they learning Mandarin in colleges so can talk mandarin to their Chinese kids.
Wish I had taken up Mandarin long go instead of chasing after sarongs, ha ha.
Have a nice day.
Lee.

Hi Eugene, good to know that you're going to take up German language.I'm quite sure you have a flair for language. I attended a short Japanese course many years ago because of my Japanese Idol - Hideki Saijo. When I went to university, I took up French for one semester but I find it much more difficult than Japanese. My son is interested to learn French but I told him to master his Chinese language first (he's not too happy about it).

夫人,我這位朋友真的值得大大的赞!我很敬佩她的生活態度及學習精神。

Hi Uncle Lee, I love your frankness. I let my son read your comment. I insist that my kids have to keep learning Chinese Language even though they complain a lot about it. I'm sure they will thank me one day :-)
