Fixing me & my hubby's "production defects"

I've been delaying my 2 elder kids' request on dental braces for quite some time. Last week, I finally decided to take them to a dentist to fix the so-called "me & my hubby's production defects".

After having the x-ray & mould done, I had a discussion with the dentist on the treatment plans.

The dentist also listed down the risks below:
  • Discomfort after the appliance adjust
  • Decalcification related to poor oral hygiene
  • Pulp degeneration in previously traumatized teeth
  • Root resorption especially on anterior maxilla teeth
  • Return of the teeth toward initial position
  • TMJ problem
  • Variation in estimated time

Being a mother, I'm very concerned about the risks, such as the discomfort and ulcers especially during the initial stage, and tooth decay if my kids fail to brush their teeth properly etc. Hence, I had a long discussion with the dentist on that matter. After I'm done, I turned to my son and asked whether he had anything to add on, just in case I've overlooked on something important that he could foresee.

The only question he had for the dentist was ...

.
.
.

" Can I have coloured braces?"

hmmmp....

Hi Yuin Ting, ha ha, love your kid.
Here we see most young kids with braces, even those in their teens. And kids here all I noticed have very good teeth.
Two things I notice among young SYTs, school kids....good teeth and long straight hair.
Very hard to spot one with short hair.
Guess its the fashion trend here, long hair.

Ya, go get them their braces, when marry get bigger dowry, ha ha.
Have a nice day, Yuin Ting.
Keep a song in your heart.
Lee.

Hi Claire, your girl has a very beautiful smile, sure no regret wearing braces! Nowadays kids treat coloured braces as a cool and trendy accessory. But the dentist told my son that he can only wear colored braces at the later stage.

Hi 小嗄, welcome! Being an art lover, I'm sure you find the coloured braces interesting.

Hi Sunny-Cookie, my hubby is the one who came out with this special term. It's surely quite a costly defect. Ouch!

Hi Uncle Lee, I'm sure it is a trend now. My daughter even requested to start wearing the braces before her school trip next month. The dentist advised her not to, as there'll be lots of discomfort at the initial stage. Oh ya, thanks for the advic on the dowry, I'll sure keep the dental bill for future use, ha ha!

Hi Joyful.Mum, I actually expect my son to ask some 'wise' questions. I forgot he's now at the age where LOOK is very important and even an acne is also a big concern.
